Claude Peppard Shumway, 82, of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2000, at his home. Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Chapel, I-435 at Holmes Rd.; burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel.
Mr. Shumway was born April 7, 1918, in Kansas City, MO, and had lived here most of his life. He and his wife were members of
Unity School of Christianity. He was a Doctor of Chiropractic, a member of the Coast Guard in WWII and was a member of the
American Legion and the V.F.W. He was selected to the National Wheelchair Basketball Association Hall of Fame, Springfield, MA,
in 1982. Mr. Shumway is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rowena; children, Brent Shumway and wife, Jolene, Rebecca Ponce and husband, Patrick, Kezie Vaught and husband, Nick, and Kimberly Brown and husband, Jim; and nine grandchildren.
