Annette S. Adsit, age 90, of 3005 Watkins Road, Horseheads, formerly of Corning and Keuka Lake, died Sunday, February 17, 2008,
at Bethany Manor, Horseheads.
Annette was born in Painted Post on March 5, 1917, the daughter of Dr. Clare N. and Frances A. (Crozier) Shumway. She married
Winston L. Adsit on November 10, 1945, in Painted Post, NY. He survives her.
Annette graduated from Painted Post High School in 1935 and received her bachelor’s degree from Rider College in New Jersey in 1938. She was employed by 1st National Bank, Corning, NY for many years where she was secretary to the President. Annette was a
former member of the United Methodist Church, Painted Post, and later a member and deaconess at First Congregational United
Church of Christ in Corning. She was a member of the Keukauna Club at Keuka Lake. Annette was an avid reader, and enjoyed
her cats and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Winston L. Adsit; two daughters: Deborah Perry of Owego, NY, and Susan (Charles) Elliott of
Horseheads; six grandchildren: Julie (Anthony) Giustino of MA, Jill (Kevin Long) Perry of MA, Jennifer (Michael) Warrick of CO,
Thomas Elliott of CA, Kevin and Daniel Elliott both of Horseheads; brother: Dr. Clare (Jane) Shumway of Dillsburg, PA; sister:
Betsy Baldwin of Winston-Salem, NC; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandparents who lovingly raised her: Dr. John and Nettie Shumway of Painted Post.
Friends will be received on Thursday, February 21 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service,
17 W. Pulteney St. in Corning. Funeral services will be held there on Friday, February 22 at 11:00AM with Pastor David Ashby
of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Corning officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport.
