Ellen Jeannette Mote DANISHEK Ellen was born April 6, 1916 in
Topeka, Kansas to Mina Jane Shumway and Douglas David Mote.
She died peacefully after a brief illness on February 22,
2006. She and her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 1920 and
to Seattle on Ellen's ninth birthday. She attended Franklin
High School, graduating in June 1933. In August 1939 she
received a B.S. in Nursing from UW. While working in Labor and
Delivery at Harborview Hospital, she met the love of her life,
Emil Stephan Danishek M.D. They were married on June 22, 1940
and raised four children of whom they have always been proud.
She then returned to nursing as a Surgical Nurse at Children's
Orthopedic Hospital before taking over the running of her
husband's medical office until his retirement. Ellen enjoyed
her memberships in Chapter CY, P.E.O., Laurelhurst Arboretum
Unit, Lake Forest Park Orthopedic Guild, Innis Arden Friends
of the Arts, and Franklin High School's Class of 1933. She is
survived by her four children, Mary Jane (Jay ) Dwight,
Kristine (John) Richter, Steve (Dee) Danishek, and Susie
Koharski. She also leaved behind, seven grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her
husband, Emil, her sister and brother in law, Carol and Bill
Floberg, and her son-in-law, Ron Koharski. In her words, she
had a very good life and was sorry to leave it, but that's the
way of the world! An open house for Ellen will be held on
Sunday, February 26th at 2 p.m. in the Activity Room of
Remington Place, 3025 NE 137th Street, Seattle. Any
honorariums may be sent to either to the PEO Foundation or to
Medic I.
