Peter B. Shumway, 56, of Northend Farm, a retired employee of D.A. Sullivan Contractors in Northampton and 20-year town assessor,
died Saturday at home.
Born in Northampton, he lived in Williamsburg most of his life.
He was a graduate of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
He was active in community affairs and had served on the school committee. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the
Holstein Association.
He leaves his wife, the former Marcia Rossi; two sons, Peter B. Shumway Jr. and Philip R. of Williamsburg; a daughter,
Suzanne N. Shumway of Williamsburg; four sisters, Shirley J. Smith of Warsaw, N.Y., Doris Ann Sebastion of Norwich, Conn.,
Donna Bunyan of Hebron, Conn., and Leona Brown of Falmouth, Maine.
A memorial service will be held Monday afternoon in the Williamsburg Congregational Church, with burial at the convenience
of the family. The Pease Funeral Home is in charge. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Hampshire County, or Cancer Research, in care of the American Cancer Society.
