Paul M. Shumway, 80, died Monday at a Las Vegas convalescent hospital.
He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Cape May, N.J. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II,
he was an insurance salesman, a three-year resident of Las Vegas and a member of
Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
He is survived by his companion, Alma Whisenant of Las Vegas; sons, Paul of Pennsylvania
and Alan of California; sister, Marguerite Hamilton of California; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are private. The family requests memorial donations be made to a charity of choice. Nevada
Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society handled arrangements.
In the Jan 1920 US Census, Paul M Shumway 2/12 is listed as residing on Montaque City Road, in
Greenfield, Franklin, Massachusetts. Paul; and his mother, Estella S Maiwald (26) live at home
with her parents, Marshal Maiwald (54) and Anne Maiwald (54). Paul was born in New Jersey and
his father in New York.
