Publication Title: The Register-Guard (Eugene, OR) William E. "Bill" Shumway of Eugene died Dec. 9 of
age-related causes. He was 82.

Shumway was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Old Town, Maine, to John and Maude Grosslin Shumway. He married
Patricia Lamb in Woolwich, Maine, on July 3, 1943.

He lived in Tilton, N.H., before settling in Eugene in 1998.

He served with the Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He worked as a welder. He was also employed as an assistant director at the Spaulding Youth Center. He
later worked as a maintenance supervisor...
