OBITUARY: ALICE WENZEL, GALENA MUSIC TEACHER, DIES
Galena, KS., Sep. 23 - Mrs. Alice Prudie Wenzel, 56 years old, died at 1:10
o'clock this morning at her home 1811 Joplin street, following a years illness.
Death was due to heart disease. Mrs. Wenzel was born in Neosho county and had
lived in this vicinity all her life. She was well known as a music instructor
in instrumental music. She was a member of of the Christian church, was
affiliated with the Empire Rebekah lodge and was a member of the Woman's Relief
Corps here. Surviving are a son, Orval Wenzel of Galena; a daughter, Mrs.
Mildred Brock of Galena; a brother, James Rice of Prague, OK; a sister Mrs.
Nettie Gaynor of Carpenteria, CA and four grandchildren, Millie May, Genieve,
Betty Jean and Jacque Wenzel all of Galena. Funeral services will be held at
2:30 o'clock tomarrow afternoon at the residence with the Rev. Lou Love in
charge. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rebekah Lodge will have
charge of services at the grave. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Nannie Parks, Mrs.
Harry Holden, Mrs. Mary Loomis, Miss Zoe Ellis, and Mrs. Frank Tryon.
