In the 1930 US Census, Lloyd Shumway (57) and his wife, Rosale Whitted (41) are renting
a house for 5 dollars a /month in District 12, Grant, Clark, Wisconsin. They have two children,
a son Palmer Shumway (11) and Virginia Shumway, age 3 years and 5 months, They do not
own a radio. Lloyd and the two children were born in Wiconsin and his wife in Iowa. He
works as a farm laborer.

Shumway, Lloyd Francis (9 March 1873 – 24 Nov. 1936)
Lloyd Francis Shumway, son of Palmer and Charrlott Shumway, was born March 9, 1873
near Viroqua, Vernon County, Wisconsin, and passed away at his home near Shortville,
November 24, 1936 at five o’clock in the morning.
Mr. Shumway had spent a good share of his life in Wisconsin, living in Nebraska a short
time with his parents. When a young man he took a homestead near Bismark, N. D., where
he was married on August 14, 1907 to Miss Rosalie Whitted. He and his wife and oldest son
came back to Wisconsin, living kin this state the rest of his life.
To this union four children were born, Lowell, Palmer and Virginia at home. Ruby; now
Mrs. Harold Hohenstein, near Shortville. Mr. Shumway is also survived by one sister,
Mrs. Eva McKinney of Mission, S. D.; one brother William of Janesville, Wisconsin;
and three grandchildren. He was a man of fine qualities, keenly devoted to his family,
a good friend and neighbor.
Funeral services were held on Friday from the Lowe Funeral Home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker
conducting the rites. Burial was in the Southwest Pine Valley Cemetery.
