Obituary of Anna M Shumway

Suffering from a paralytic stroke, Mrs Anna M Shumway, a pioneer resident of Marshall County, passed away at the home of her daughter,
Mrs D V Masser at Ogden Saturday afternoon, Febuary 9, 1935.

Mrs Anna M Shumway was born on Cedar Grove Plantation, Fairfax County, Virginia, Sept 20, 1857. She was the daughter of Jonathan
and Abigail Hanines Roberts. She came to Iowa with her parents in November 1870. They settled on a farm south of Marietta.


October 26, 1881 she was married to Howard Haywood Shumway. They moved to a farm in Marietta township which they purchased
and which became their home for the next forty one years.

They retired from active farm work in 1931 and moved to Marshaltown. Her husband preceeded in death May 17, 1932.

The deceased is survived by two sons, Chester R of Ravenna, Ohio and Loren F Shumway of Alexandria, Virginia and one
daughter Mrs Abigail Masser of Ogden, also four grandchildren survive.
