Agency History/Biographical note:
Louise M. Richards was born on April 21, 1838. In 1859 she married
Austin L. Shumway. They had nine children, including Sara Shumway
Sibley and Priscilla Shumway Scott. Louise Shumway died on October
15, 1922. Priscilla Shumway was born on June 24, 1881 in Holyoke,
Massachusetts. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1906, and
married Harry Fisher Scott on June 15, 1910. Harry Scott died in 1960,
and Priscilla Shumway Scott died in 1962.
Scope and Content:
Chiefly diaries of Priscilla Shumway Scott describing social life and
activities as a student at Mount Holyoke College, courtship and
marriage, married life and family affairs. Also includes a small
collection of diaries, correspondence and other papers, 1908-1960, of
her husband Harry Fisher Scott; 1869 diary of her mother, Louise
Richards Shumway; diaries of her sister Sara Shumway Sibley,
1931-1938; and numerous family photographs, ca. 1905-1955.
