Revolutionary war. 2nd Mass. Bay Reg't under command of Lieut. Taylor.
Also served in Capt. Job Alvord's Co., Col. Murray's Reg't - raised to
reinforce the continental army. 8 children: Sarah Shumway

He was a soldier of the Revolutionary War as a description of him appears on Massachusetts Records.
Records of the 2nd Massachusetts Bay Reg't as marching from Springfield, July 6, 1780, under command
of Lieut. Taylor: " Age 23, Stat 5 ft 3 inches, comp'n dark, Belchertown"; under date of July 11, 1780, a
record of Capt. Job Alvord's Company, Col. Murrary's Reg't raised for 3 months to reinforce the
Continental Army shows. "Cyril Shumway, 3 months 7 days 7 Pounds, 5 shillings 10d."

From Early Massachusetts Marriages

June 24, 1738, "The tract of land called New Medfield established as Sturbridge." Prov. Laws., Vol. II, p. 946.
First (Congregational) Church organized 1736. Baptist, 1749, at Fiskdale. The following marriages were performed
