Notes for Richard Phil Shumway

Funeral services for Richard Phil Shumway, 62, lovingly known as Turk, who died on
Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, in Payson, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 913 S. Ponderosa in Payson.
Visitations will be held from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Feb. 24) at Messinger Payson Funeral
Home, located at 302 W. Aero Drive, and at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Interment will be at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park.

He was born and raised in St. Johns, and spent his summers at the family sawmill in New Mexico.

He was a lifelong member of the LDS church, and served a two-year mission for the
church in Florida. He served faithfully in many capacities, including Young Men’s president,
Elders Quorum president, Bishopric and the High Council. He especially loved working with youth.

One of his greatest qualities was his capacity to love, and his generosity knew no bounds.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He loved to travel and see the world.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice Kaye; three sons, Rick, Roger and Jeff; three brothers,
Douglas of Guatemala, and Mark and Monroe, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; and 10 grandchildren.

At the family’s request, any memorials may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the LDS church.
