Notes for Isaac Shumway

SHUMWAY FAMILY -
Little is known of his early history; his childhood was spent in Oxford, Massachusetts,
where he married Rebecca Grow, Nov. 14, 1769; removed to New York State about 1770,
living in Chatham and in Phelps; in Oct, 1811, they migrated to Ohio, by means of a four-horse
wagon, the journey requiring two months.

Removed to Dutchess Co., NY; then to Neversink, Sullivan Co., NY; then to Phelps, Ontario, Co., NY,
in Oct 1811; then to Ohio 2 mos. in route.
