SHUMWAY, Norman David, a US Representative from California; born in Phoenix,
Maricopa County, Ariz., July 28, 1934; educated in the Stockton public schools;
graduated from Stockton High School, 1952; A.A., Stockton (Calif.) College, 1954;
B.S., University of Utah, Salt Lake City, 1960; J.D., Hastings College of Law,
University of California, San Francisco, 1963; admitted to the California bar
in 1964 and commenced practice in Downey, Calif.; appointed to the San Joaquin
County Board of Supervisors by Governor Reagan, 1974; elected in 1974, and
reelected in 1976; elected as a Republican to the Ninety-sixth and to the five
succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1979-January 3, 1991); was not a candidate
for renomination in 1990 to the One Hundred Second Congress; is a resident
of Stockton, San Joaquin, California.
