According to the 1850 US Census, Noah was born in Oxford, Mass. His wife,
Elizabeth Hill Stiness, was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, There first two children
were born in Grafton, Massachusetts The next five children were born in Burrelville, Rhode Island,
The last two were born in Killingly. Windham, CT. Noah was involed in the
manufacture of woolens

Noah's brother, Daniel Smith Shumway, married Mary Rebecca Stennis. She was
a sister to Noah's wife.
