Notes for Eleanor Jane Shumway

Passed away on December 21, 2006. Jane was born on April 5, 1916 in
Spring Valley, Washington to Walter and Ida Mae Shumway. The youngest of

was born a neighbor and her infant son, George Edwin Conniff, came to
see the new baby. Twenty-five years later, while George's ship was dry

Washington. Jane and George eventually settled in Ione, Washington where
they raised their two children, George Jr . and Karene Mae. Jane enjoyed
her life and friends in Ione. The couple moved to Spokane, Washington and
established "Hidden Aces Orchard" on Green Bluff. In 1999 they moved to
the orchard to be near their daughter. Jane came to be known as "Grandma
Jane" not only to her grandchildren, but to everyone she encountered.
When you picture a sweet lady with a pretty apron, cookies inhand, and
a twinkle in her eye, you picture "Grandma Jane." She was truly
everyone's Grandma and loved by all. Jane is survived by her devoted
husband of 64 years, George ; her children, Karene Simchuk and George
and Diane Conniff; six grandchildren ; her adopted family. the Smith's;
