In the 1860 US Census, Benjamin Shumway (37) and his wife, Mahalia Conkling (23) were residing in
Honey Lake Valley, Plumas, California. They have two children, Emerson B Shumway (6) and
Marietta Shumway (4). The father and children were born in Maine. The mother was born in Ohio.
Benjamin is a carpenter by trade.
