In the 1880 US Census, Nathan Shumway (59), his wife, Clara A. Bryant (39) and
their two sons are living in District 32, Los Angeles, California. Nathan is a farmer
and his eldest son, George Henry Shumway (17) is a farm laborer. Louis Jefferson
Shumway (9) attends school. Nathan and Clara was born in Maine. George was
born in Minnesota and Louis in Dakota Terr.
