Alvah & Reuben T. Shumway sold their share of the farm inherited from their father.
They may have migrated to Lee County, (near Dixon) Illinois.
His son Luther died and is buried in the Old Jenningsville Cemetery in Jenningsville,
Wyoming County, Pennsylvania.

According to the 1850 US Census, Reuben T. Shumway (46) and his wife, Mary Ann Foster (46)
are living on a farm in Wyalusing, Bradford, Pennsylvania. Reuben and Mary were both born in
New York State and their three children in Pennsylvania Delos (17), Alonzo (15) and Matilda (13) are three of the
nine children still living at home.
