Notes for Ebenezer Shumway

Revolutionary soldier marched on Lexington alarm, married 1765 settled at Oxford
removed to Leicester and before 10-18-24 with son Daniel to Oxford, NY where both died.


SHUMWAY, Ebenezer of Oxford. On roll of Capt. Jeremiah Kingsbury's company,
Col. Jonathan Holman's regiment, Providence, January 20, 1777; time in camp 43 days;
Corporal [page 382]. Capt. John Town's company; marched to Cambridge, April 19, 1775 [page 384].

Shumway, Ebenezer, Oxford. Private, Capt. John Town's co., which marched on
the alarm of April 19, 1775, to Roxbury; service, 14¾ days; also, Capt. John
Town's co., Col. Jonathan Holman's regt.; service, 5 days; roll dated Providence,
Jan. 20, 1777, sworn to in Worcester Co., and endorsed ?march'd on Alarm to
Rhode Island in Dec'r 1776;? also, Corporal, Capt. Jeremiah Kingsbery's co.,
Col. Jonathan Holman's regt.; service, 16 days; roll dated Providence,
Jan. 20, 1777, and sworn to in Worcester Co.; also, Sergeant,
Capt. Ebenezer Humphrey's co., Col. Jacob Davis's (Worcester Co.) regt.;
marched July 30, 1780; discharged Aug. 7, 1780; service, 12 days, including
4 days (80 miles) travel home; company marched to Rhode Island on an alarm.
