The Shumway Root Cellar

Notes for Samuel Shumway

There is no evidence to suggest Samuel Shumway ever married. According to Mr. A.A. Shumway's book, Samuel left no will,
letters of administration show that his estate was turned over to his brother John, May 16,1715. Samuel joined an expedition
of English and New England vessels and regiments. Their object being the conquest of New Foundland. They were successful
in establishing a fortress for the English. The English flag has flown there ever since. This expedition left Boston in Sept. 1710.
