Carole, I have recently learned about computers and have come across this wonderful Shumway web site. Nancy Shumway and John McNelly were my great great grandparents. I have some questions, and some information that some might be interested in. From the website I have learned about some of their children I wasn't aware of. First, I am the great grandson of their daughter Annie M. McNelly Lusk, B. Sept. 9, 1862 and died in 1927. She is buried in Holman Cemetery, Sibley, Iowa. I have been to the cemetery behind the Portland Prairie Church near Caledonia, MN a couple times and have found many family graves, including Noah Shumway's and John McNelly's. I do not recall seeing Nancy Shumway's grave, but the last time I was there in 1973, I knew little about the family. I am perplexed by Alida's name on John McNelly's grave, if Nancy was his wife. Was John married twice? Also, I remember my mother mentioning a relative by the name of Ripley, and I believe there is a Ripley stone in Holman Cemetery, Sibley, Iowa. This brings me to another question. On the Shumway site I see listed two Nancy Etta McNellys, both born June 22, but in 1863 and 1868. Can you clarify this? I have a picture of Ella McNelly Graves, William McNelly, and Annie McNelly Lusk, but Nancy Etta McNelly Ripley is not in it. Also I have recently learned that three of Nancy and John's children died young. I have many more questions and information I can share, but won't overload the system now. Hope to hear from you. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Lowell Bailey Everett, WA
