The Shumway book says that Sylvanus b. 1780 Mass. married Sarah Palmer in 1804. Their son, Sylvanus was born in Va Jan 11 1812 (my Gr.Gr. Grandfather) The first Sylvanus moved a lot, but I have never been able to find any marriage records, nor indentify Sarah's family. Census records say she was born in Va. Did she move to Pittsburg, Pa, in 1813 with her husband? I've never located any evidence of the family in Pittsburg as the book states. What happened to her, her son Sylvanus and her adopted daughter when her husband died in 1822? Son Sylvanus, shows up in Louisiana in 1842. Married to an Indian named Roxan or "Little Fox" Craddock. Who according to verbal family tradition was "accuired" by Sylvanus by trading his fine white horse for her in New Orleans. More on this later. For now, I sure could use some help finding out something about Sarah Palmer and her Virginia family. Since her husband Sylvanus moved to Charleston, S.C. in 1804, then to Baltmore, Md, then to Washington, D.C., then to Pittsburgh, Pa in 1813, she could have met and married anyway between Charleston, S.C. and Washington, D.C. in Virginia. Her son was born on Jan 11 1812 in Va., at which time they lived in the hotel which his father operated in Washington, D.C. Thanks for some help!
