My grandparents, Benjamin Franklin Decker and Elenor M. Decker purchased a 25 acre piece of property on Old Post Road, Lebanon Springs, NY from the Frankin Hand family in 1920's. Deeds to the property indicate that the Hand family married in to the Shumway family. I have copies of deeds to this property and adjoining/abutting properties that date back to 1864. The reason we have these deeds are due to a land dispute we are presently having with abutting property owners. We also have recent and old land surveys, descriptions and maps of the entire area that was at one time Hand family land. Part of the area of land includes an old cemetery called "Moots Cemetery" which was originally a Shaker burial ground according to the deeds we have. This cemetary is in danger of being destroyed by the present land owner and our family wishes it could be preserved. My grandparents are also buried in the Cemetery of the Evergreens which abutts land once owned by the Hand family. I would like to exchange information with your family if possible. Please contact me by e-mail and we can exchange information.
